Ellen Osmundsen

Board Chair & Program Chair

Ellen Osmundson is an active Senior Real Estate Specialist dedicated
to serving the senior population in Walnut Creek and beyond. She was
determined to bring the Village Movement to Walnut Creek to provide
programs for seniors to learn, exercise, socialize, and receive support
when needed. Ellen was a recipient of the Contra Costa Women Hall of
Fame Leadership Award. Her leadership roles included chairing the
Contra Costa Chinese Cultural Festivals, serving on the boards of
Walnut Creek Education Foundation and Diablo Symphony Orchestra.
She is excited to launch Mount Diablo Village to serve 43% of Walnut
Creek’s population age 50 and above.

Alice Tai

Program Co-Chair

A newly retired small business owner and private practice
periodontist of 32 years, Alice is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Alice has been actively serving in various capacities to give back to the dental profession. She serves as a Delegate at American Dental Association and California Dental Association. She also served as a Board Component Representative and member of Committee on Volunteer Placement at CDA. As a program co-chair at Mount Diablo Village, Alice is looking forward to creating programs for members to allow Walnut Creek seniors to have an opportunity to age happily and gracefully with dignity and respect.

Renee MacArthur

Treasurer

Renee MacArthur is a recently retired Certified Public Accountant
with over 25 years of accounting and tax preparation experience.
She also owned and operated a Home Instead Senior Care franchise
providing in-home care services for seniors. She lives in Walnut
Creek with her husband Ron. They have two adult children. Besides
volunteering with the Mount Diablo Village, she enjoys doing
volunteer work for Score which is a non-profit that helps individuals
with starting and operating small businesses. Her experience as a
CPA and her passion for senior makes her the per the perfect
treasurer of Mount Diablo Village.

Siew Chuah

Membership Chair

Siew Chuah has worked in the semiconductor and optical media
industries as a software engineer for over forty years. She moved
from Sunnyvale to Walnut Creek in 2010 after her company
relocated to Pleasanton. She likes the East Bay for its many
regional parks and open spaces. She enjoys hiking, jogging,
gardening, volunteering and trying out new restaurants. As the
Membership Chair, Siew plans to have as many Walnut Creek
Seniors as possible benefiting from the programs Mount Diablo
Village has to offer.

Trudy Triner

Volunteer Coordinator

After retiring from Kaiser Permanente in 2013 as Director of
Leadership Development for Patient Care Service, Trudy knew she
wanted to lead a life of service. A friend introduced her to Rotary
International whose motto is “Service Above Self” and the fit was
perfect! Since then she has served as a Board member, club
president and currently Assistant District Governor of the Walnut
Creek Rotary. She also serves on the Board of the Walnut Creek
Chamber of Commerce and volunteers with a wide variety of local
non-profit organizations. Her experience as a frequent volunteer will
serve her well as the Volunteer Coordinator for Mount Diablo Village.

Miriam Schaffer

Publicity Chair

Miriam is skilled at media outreach and publicity. Her career began
as a television news and talk show producer, initially on the East
Coast and then at San Francisco’s KRON-TV. She then worked in
publicity/media relations for more than 25 years at PR/marketing
communications firms in the East Bay. She currently uses her
marketing and writing skills to counsel high school and community
college students throughout the college application process. She
has lived in Walnut Creek since 1984 and enjoys spending time with
her family, including her three grandchildren.

Diane Salmon

Lead Grant Writer

Diane has enjoyed a diverse career in marketing, advertising,
brand management, and fintech product innovation. She now uses
her detail-oriented writing and communication skills to benefit
local nonprofits, including Yours Humanly (underserved children’s
education) and The Respite Inn (developmentally disabled adults).
Diane looks forward to assisting Mount Diablo Village with
proposals for nonprofit grant support. She loves books, music, and
being on both urban and wilderness trails for running, hiking, or
backpacking—plus writing the occasional haiku.

Cindy DeYoung

Emergency Preparedness

Having worked for a high-tech global technology company for 31
years, Cindy DeYoung retired from her position that focused on
facility management and emergency preparedness. She managed a support staff of about twenty people including executive support and office operations. Cindy and her husband Don have been residents of Walnut Creek for over forty years. She enjoys helping neighbors and meeting new friends. She believes it is important for seniors in Walnut Creek or elsewhere to be educated and prepared for emergencies and continue to live safely.

Pete Bardea

Tech Team Lead

Pete Bardea is a lifelong programmer (retired) who is also a volunteer with Clayton Valley Village providing handyman and technical support to its members.
As part of the CVV tech team, he developed a Microsoft Access
database that he uses to produce monthly reports for the board to
keep them abreast of the key metrics needed to support the village.
That database is also used to provide the same reports for Mt. Diablo Village.

Keith Feiring

Tech Team

Keith Feiring and his wife Stephanie, both 77 years young, have lived happily in their Walnut Creek home for over forty years. They want to remain in their home while they age, which is why they are joining with, volunteering at and supporting Mount Diablo Village and all the community and benefits it will provide them. Both Keith and Stephanie are members of the Walnut Creek Masters Swim Team. A former New Yorker, Keith is a retired high school English teacher and an amateur piano player. He was also a Microsoft Master Instructor, Microsoft Certified Professional, and a past owner of Price Rite Cheese (if you remember that store).
